Lady Falcons Domesticate Wakefield Wolverines, 15-8
The wolverine is a small ferocious animal, known for its strength and its ability to kill prey as large as moose. The namesake #11 Wakefield Wolverines play tenaciously and showed unexpected strength to topple #6 Western Guilford last week. The falcon is a bird-of-prey, known for its sharp eyes and incredible speed. Like their inspiration, the Green Hope Falcons keenly assessed their adversary and swiftly descended on the goal to defeat the Wolverines in a well-fought match, 15-8. State Finals, here we come! Lady Falcons Defeat Weddington Warriors in All-Out Battle, 15-7
In the first half of the first round of the State Tournament playoffs, the Weddington Warriors gave the Lady Falcons a run for their money. At the half, the Warriors were breathing down the Falcons' back with a score of 6-5. But when the stadium lights turned on for the second half, so did the Falcons. The "second half team" Falcons came alive and put 9 more points on the board while holding the Warriors down to 2. Full story

Falcons Upset East Chapel Hill Wildcats, 11-10
In the last regular game of the season, in which Seniors Alyson Boltja and Stephanie Sun were honored, the Falcons played hard and played to win. The defensive squad repeatedly frustrated the Wildcat attackers, while the Falcon offense showed no mercy. In celebration, Coaches Piper and Sibley were once again inspired to "ride that pony" with their team. Then a loud cheer erupted from the jubilant team when Coach canceled Saturday practice. Lady Falcons Swoop in to Overwhelm Athens Drive Jaguars, 15-8
The Lady Falcons bounced back from their close Middle Creek game to dominate the Athens Drive Jaguars tonight. What started out as a close game turned into a runaway lead for the Falcons. Both defense and offense were on fire and executed well. The playing was so inspirational that Coaches Piper and Sibley were moved to "ride that pony" with the team after the game. Full story

Lady Falcons Edge Out Middle Creek Mustangs in Overtime, 8-7
In a surprisingly close game, the Lady Falcons barely edged out the Middle Creek Mustangs in overtime play. The Mustangs, well-trained by Green Hope alumna Ashley Ruppert, showed good teamwork and defense to hold down the Falcon scoring. The Falcon crowd, on the edge of their seats, became alive with new enthusiasm when Katie "I want to be a cheerleader" Worsdale chided them into giving the team more energy. Full story

Lady Falcons Stung in Heartbreaker to Western Guilford Hornets, 10-11
In a major upset, the Lady Falcons lost to the Western Guilford Hornets, ranked 8th in the state. The Hornets played a good game and outplayed the Lady Falcons. The Falcon fans finally met their match in the Hornet cheering section, who brought enough cowbells to make Christopher Walken proud. Full story

Chapel Hill Tigers Submit to Lady Falcons, 9-7
The Chapel Hill Tigers were seeking to avenge their earlier overtime defeat, but they were denied. The Tiger drummer and chipper score announcer weren't enough to fuel the Tigers' fight to overcome the Lady Falcons and their enthusiastic cheering section. Full story

Apex Cougars End Green Hope Winning Streak, 4-9
The Lady Falcons posted their second in-state regular season loss ever when they fell to a tough Apex team tonight. (The first loss came in the first game of their varsity existence more than 3 years ago.) The Cougars came ready to avenge their previous loss to the Lady Falcons. The Falcons put up a good fight, but in the end, the fierce cat overcame the big bird. Full story

Falcons vs. Falcons: Green Hope Comes Out Ahead Against Southeast Guilford, 18-6
The Lady Falcon starters cheered from the sideline as rookies and subs had their day in the sun. Against the Southeast Guilford Falcons, rookies Colleen Brophy, Casey Reiser, and Deirdre O'Connor all contributed to the 18-6 victory. Full story

Lady Falcons Hand East Chapel Hill Wildcats Their First In-State Defeat, 10-9
Broughton fell. Then Chapel Hill, Apex, Myers Park and now finally, East Chapel Hill. The Lady Falcons have played spoiler to the top teams in the state, handing them each their first in-state defeat of the season. In a close game in which the Green Hope fans outcheered the East Chapel Hill crowd and their drums, the Lady Falcons proved to be birds tougher than the big cats of ECH. Full story

Lady Falcons Tame Wakefield Wolverines, 15-8
Fresh from spring break and a new sense of "team," the Lady Falcons came to win at Wakefield. Behind 8-1 at half time, the Wolverines fought back in the second half. They managed to put 7 more points on the board, but the Lady Falcons followed suit to end the game 15-8. Full story

Lady Falcons Lose to 2nd Big Bird in Atlanta
The Falcons delivered the closest victory that the Milton Eagles have had in over 2 years. Only one other school has held the Eagle score to a single digit this season. With the score at 6-9, the Milton Eagles pronounced the Lady Falcons to be the toughest competitors they have had in a long time. Full story

Lady Falcons Defeated by Tough Raptors
In the battle of the birds, the Lady Falcons succumbed to the Ravenwood Raptors, 10-11. The Falcons and the Raptors took turns pulling way ahead or catching up, each shooting up 4 or more points ahead at some point in the game. In the end, the Falcons fell short and lost by just one point. Full story

Lightning Can't Stop Lady Falcons From Defeating Durham Academy, 8-3
Only the weather was able to stop the Lady Falcon's intensive offensive drives against the Durham Academy Cavaliers. After a series of unstoppable and well-executed plays, and with 9:18 left on the clock, the game was called off due to an impending thunderstorm. But because more than 80% of the game was played, the game was good, and the final score was recorded at 8-3. Full story

Lady Falcons Deliver 1st Defeat for Myers Park
The Lady Falcons advanced their undefeated record by soundly beating Myers Park (coming in with a 12-0 record) at Durham Academy. Struggling to keep the lead at the half (4-3), the Lady Falcons once again proved themselves a "second half team," turning on the heat to win at 11-4, even while fans were melting in the record-high temperature. Lady Falcons Clip Eagles' Wings, 10-4
The Lady Falcons handedly defeated the Enloe Eagles in a game that played out almost entirely in front of the Enloe goal. Continuing their winning streak, the News & Observer finally paid attention and gave some press to the Lady Falcons. (See "News" above.) Full story

Green Hope Defeats Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders, 9-6
The Lady Falcons dominated the Crusaders at home. At the half, the Falcons were comfortably ahead 5-2. The Crusaders turned it on in the second half, but could not overpower the Falcons. Full story

Lady Falcons Beat Apex Cougars, 9-8
As the Cary News reported (see "News" above), the Lady Falcons pulled out a win "in a thrilling battle of the unbeatens". Green Hope scored first, but after 12 minutes of playing, they didn't see the lead again until the last point of the game. Full story

Green Hope Defeats Chapel Hill in Exciting Overtime, 14-12
In the most exciting game in Green Hope's history, the Lady Falcons came back from a 5-10 deficit at the half to tie the game 12-12 in regulation time. Two unanswered points in the second half of overtime clinched the win for the Lady Falcons. Full story

Green Hope vs Green Hope in Fun-Filled Black & White Scrimmage
The Lady Falcons, including managers Colleen Brophy and Bethany Wilcox, squared off against each other for the third annual Black & White Scrimmage Game. Coach Heather and Chrissy Sibley gave the parents in the stands a much-needed lesson on lacrosse rules. (Now we know a shooting space violation when we see one!) Full story

Lady Falcons Capped the Broughton Capitals, 6-3
Starting fast with a goal 15 seconds into the game, the Lady Falcons found themselves down 1-2 at the half. But they managed to pull out a victory with a strong performance by goalie Katie Worsdale with an amazing 28 saves. Full story

Falcons Subdue Panther Creek Catamounts, 17-1
In the opening game of the season, the Lady Falcons initiated the Lady Catamounts in their first lacrosse game ever by scoring just 54 seconds into the game.
