Lady Falcons Subdue Athens Drive Jaguars, 8-16
The Lady Falcons handed the Lady Jaguars a defeat at Athens Drive. Every member of the Falcon team contributed to the victory, with the Freshman class leading off the game with 4 straight points.
Freshman Campbell Stanley needed only one minute to put the first point on the board. Freshman Briana Lowell took only a minute and half to score the next point. Freshman Sarah Hawthorne came up with a point of her own, followed just 9 seconds later with another point by Lowell. A fast break by the Lady Jaguars ended the freshman scoring streak, but not for long. Freshman Kendall Hidalgo forced a turnover, which culminated in a score by Rachel Chapla. Deirdre O'Connor followed through on a penalty shot. After another quick point by the Jaguars, Allie Klavik scored. Stanley followed up almost immediately with another point. A Jaguar fast break closed the first half, 8-3.
The Jaguars tried to set the tone for the second half by scoring first, but it didn't last long. Hidalgo connected to Stanley for another point. Then O'Connor, accepting a pass from Chapla, scored again. O'Connor assisted Meghan Hawthorne for the next point. Chapla wowed the crowd when a groundball recovery resulted in a point. Then in quick succession, Lowell, Casey Reiser and Klavik scored on fast breaks from the draw. The Jaguars found their groove and scored 4 straight points to narrow the gap, and Chapla followed up with a low shot for the last point of the game, 16-8. But wait, the game's not over yet! Who is that streaking down the field? Rookie Claire Kilmer flew coast-to-coast and almost scored, which ended the game on an exciting note for the cheering crowd.
