Lady Falcons Closes Gap on 10-13 Loss to Myers Park Mustangs

The Lady Falcons rode the Myers Park Mustangs hard, but still came up short, 10-13. The team poured it on in the 2nd half, outscoring the Mustangs 7-5, and gained grounds on an 8 point deficit.

The Falcons played well in the first half, but the Mustangs played harder, putting 8 points on the board. Casey Reiser, Deirdre O'Connor and Meghan Hawthorne gave it their all and answered back with 3 points.

Then the second half started. At first, the 2nd half looked to be a repeat of the first half. After Briana Lowell stuffed one in on a crease roll, the Mustangs answered back with 4 straight points. But with the second half more than half over, the Lady Falcons came to life. Hawthorne put 2 into the cage, and then she forced a turnover that resulted in a run-in point by Taylor Morrison. A Mustang cutter found her way to the Falcon cage to break the scoring streak, but not for long. O'Connor surgically slammed one in, then Kendall Hidalgo caught the goalie off-guard with a "3-pointer" from outside the 12 m. A bounce shot by O'Connor gave the Falcons the last point of the game.

Rachel Chapla and Morrison got the crowd cheering with shots on goal that looked good, but ended up outside the cage. Likewise, Katie Worsdale wowed the crowd with her numerous saves and interceptions.
