March 31
Lady Falcons Put the Lid on the Broughton Caps, 18-9

The Lady Falcons took the lead early and never looked back. The Lady Caps played well but could not keep up with the fast and furious Falcons.

Meghan Hawthorne needed only 48 seconds to force a turnover and score the first point. The Lady Caps quickly responded, but a forced turnover by Deirdre O'Connor gave Kendall Hidalgo the help she needed to score the next point at the crease. Hawthorne, from the draw, connected to O'Connor for the next point. Despite some dramatic saves by goalie Katie Worsdale, Broughton managed 2 more into the net. O'Connor scored next on a slam at the crease. Meghan "turnover queen" Hawthorne gave Erin Noonan the opportunity to assist Chapla (on a quick stick) to score the next point. A dramatic Worsdale save returned possession to the Falcons after the next draw, which ended with a point by Hidalgo. Chapla bounced the next point in on penalty. After several more crowd-pleasing saves by Worsdale and a forced turnover by Colleen Brophy, Hawthorne connected with O'Connor to score once more.

Chapla started the second half quickly with a score at the crease. Brophy got the crowd going again with a couple of forced turnovers, and Hawthorne scored once more to increase the lead, 10-3. The Caps scored twice to narrow the gap. Allie Klavik, receiving a pass by Hawthorne from the draw, scored next at the crease. The Caps then turned on the power and scored 3 straight points before the Falcons could respond. Hidalgo charged to the crease for the next point. In dramatic fashion, Hawthorne intercepted the goalie to score the next point. O'Connor, assisted by Allie Klavik, increased the lead 14-8. A slam from the side gave the Lady Caps the next point, but that would be their last of the day. Erin Noonan scored next on penalty. Casey Reiser intercepted a Broughton pass and to the wild cheers of the crowd, ran coast-to-coast to connect with O'Connor behind the net, who in turn connected to Chapla for the next point. A forced turnover by Noonan allowed O'Connor to connect with Sarah Hawthorne for the next point. In pure Reiser fashion, Reiser hopped and skipped to the net to put the final score on the board.

Goalie Cheryl Schlitter came into the game with 5 minutes left and kept the Lady Caps scoreless for the rest of the game. Chapla impressed the fans when she slipped and fell to the ground while hanging on to the ball. She managed to flick a pass to Meghan Hawthorne from the ground.
