April 15
South Jefferson Spartans Travel to NC to Defeat Lady Falcons, 6-13

The South Jefferson Spartans took time from their spring break to challenge the Lady Falcons. The first half was very close at 4-6, but the Spartans dominated the second half to win, 6-13.

While the Spartans were busy scoring their first 5 points of the game, Deirdre O'Connor managed to sneak one in, and Rachel Chapla made an awesome quick stick for the second point. Kendall Hidalgo made good on a penalty shot, and Meghan Hawthorne, flying coast to coast with her red shoes a blur, slammed the next one in. The Spartans put in the last point of the half with a little under a minute left, 4-6.

Hawthorne started the second half narrowing the gap by running in the next point. The Spartans shot off 2 more points before Claire Kilmer, assisted by Allie Klavik, slammed the next one in at the crease. Meanwhile, Goalie Katie Worsdale threw herself into the game, first figuratively by making one awesome save after another. Then literally, by diving onto the field to fight for the ball. When she didn't get up the second time, Cheryl Schlitter was thrown in for 57 seconds while Worsdale recovered. The Spartans went on a scoring streak and put another 5 points on the board. Despite an exciting interception by Sarah Hawthorne, and a forced turnover by Chapla, the Lady Falcons were not able to respond.
