Lady Falcons Succumb to Chapel Hill Tigers, 5-8
The Chapel Hill Tigers dominated possession throughout the game and posted a 6 point lead at one time in the game. The Lady Falcons came back the second half to outscore the Tigers, but not by enough to change the results.
The game did not start out well for the Lady Falcons. Three points down, Allie Klavik's tremendous ground ball recovery let Deirdre O'Connor dodge and duck her way to the net. The Tigers put 4 more points on the board, but Katie "you're so awesome" Worsdale kept it from being worse. Eleven incredible saves in that time! Plus an interception! Another ground ball recovery by Klavik once again allowed O'Connor to score at the net. Klavik and Dana Josephson excited the crowd with a couple of near points, with Josephson's coming in at the last second.
Worsdale continued to impress in the second half, as did Meghan Hawthorne with a forced turnover. Rachel Chapla scored the next two points, first with a dive into the Tiger den, and then with a run to the net. For the last 13 minutes of the game, the Falcons kept the Tigers down to just one more point, due in part to the efforts of Kendall Hidalgo, Hagen Donahue, Sarah Hawthorne, Colleen Brophy, and Claire Kilmer. The last score of the game was made by Allie Klavik on penalty.
