April 11
Green Hope Falcons Beat Athens Drive Jaguars, 13-8

It was a night for new experiences. Defenders played attack. Attackers played defense. A goalie played defense and attack. And Ali Brown, arguably one of the best defenders in the state, got to see what the other side of the field looked like to score her first point ever.

The scores came fast and furious. Rachel Chapla scored one from an assist from Brittany Ruppert to start things off. Christina Demetros picked up a ground ball and slammed in the next point. Demetros scored again on a crease roll. Ruppert connected with Kelly Reiser for the next point. After the Jaguars scored their first point, Deirdre O'Connor, taking a pass from Dana Josephson, quickly put the next point in. The Jaguars scored next after winning a hard-fought tussle in front of the Falcon cage when a Jaguar flicked one in from a bounce pass. Demetros put the next one on a clean shot over the goalie's head. Taylor George scored her first Varsity point on a quick stick from a pass by Allie Klavik. (Too bad Hagen Donahue got credit for it.) Alannah Garcia scored next when she bounced a shot into the Jaguar's den. She scored again when she ran in a penalty shot. Showing great defense in the first half, Casey Reiser, Jenna Lang, Nicole Nisbet, Mandy Blackburn and Josephson forced turnovers and showed good hustle to win ground balls. Chapla intercepted a Jaguar pass, and Katie Worsdale made several impressive saves.

The second half started with several goal attempts by Casey Reiser, Blackburn and Demetros, but it took Lang, connecting from Chapla to put up the next Falcon score. The Jaguars quickly scored next, but goalie Cheryl Schlitter deflected the next attempt. Blackburn, picking up a ground ball that Elba Olivero forced out of Jaguar stick, connected to defender-turned-attacker Ali Brown for her first career point ever. (Yeah, Ali!!! Way to go!) Then 10 minutes of non-scoring excitement included Danielle Johnson warding off repeated attacks after a ground ball scoop, Priscilla Lin with an awesome interception, Schlitter blocking a crease roll, a goal attempt by Kelsey Collins, and Chapla and Kay Kay Keung with forced turnovers and ground ball recoveries. Then on a breakaway, the Jaguars scored again to narrow the gap, 12-4. Keung responded with a dive into the Jaguar den after receiving a pass from Kelly Bristow. After a breakaway point by the Jaguars, Donahue showed some fancy spin moves at the crease, but her shot hit the post. Exciting shot attempts by Garcia and Nisbet got the fans cheering in the stands even as the Jaguars scored three more points (including one right at the final buzzer) to finish the game 13-8.
